Smithers is a town located on Hwy #16 in the Bulkley valley of northwestern British Columbia, Canada, approximately halfway between the cities of Prince George and Prince Rupert. With a population of 5,509, Smithers is a service area for most of the Bulkley Valley.
The town is set against the backdrop of Hudson Bay Mountain to the west and the Babine Mountain range to the east which makes a very picturesque setting. It also offers quick and easy access to the backcountry and year-round outdoor recreation.
Smithers is situated on the Yellowhead Trans Canada or "Highway 16", 370 km/222 miles west of Prince George; and 350 km/218 miles from the Port of Prince Rupert on the Pacific Ocean.
